FEATURED ARTIST OF THE WEEK: TODD HIDO. 25.06.11
on a number of occasions i’ve featured photographers on this blog who i’ve admired including irina werning, reiner reidler, joe deal and new topographics (old i know, but still surprisingly relevant), sacha goldberger, amy stein, helen vogel, as well as some of my own personal work. while i’ve posted a few, i happen to have a large collection of photographers, illustrators, and video artists/directors hidden away deep within my computer’s bookmarks. i came across them today as i was organizing my computer and realized why not share this accumulation of artists? and so i bring you: featured artist of the week. each week i’ll try to feature either a photographer, illustrator, musician or videographer (?) whose work i think really does something unique or magical. whichever. and who better to start with than todd hido? a contemporary photographer based out of san francisco, hido often deals with the isolated quiet of suburbia (a subject i constantly find so fascinating). i’m especially drawn to the subtle solitude of his interior shots and think his work has the unique ability to be very relevant both commercially and artistically. check him out here.
